Summary of report content

Healthwatch Lancashire in collaboration with Lancashire County Council Quality, Contracts and Safeguarding Adults Service, created three surveys to provide a ‘snapshot’ of the experience of people living in, working in and who had relatives in care homes in Lancashire during the pandemic. This report focuses on the feedback given by people resident in Lancashire care homes during the pandemic. In total they received 15 responses from people in 8 different care homes.

All respondents said that they felt safe, valued, respected, treated with dignity and were given the opportunity to speak to their friends and family.

Although most of the feedback was positive, five people told us that they felt bored, three people said they felt lonely, one person felt that they weren’t listened to and another said that they did not feel informed.

Six residents left comments which were all complimentary about the staff and some respondents reaffirmed that they felt safe and looked after.

Healthwatch Lancashire resolved to undertake further research on this topic once it was safe to visit care homes again.
