Summary of report content

Healthwatch Bucks carried out an announced Enter & View visit to find out about people’s experiences of attending community opportunities at the Princes Centre, which offers day support to older people with dementia or those who feel isolated, adults with learning disabilities, and those with mental health difficulties.

Healthwatch Bucks spoke to 9 clients and 5 members of staff. They also observed interactions between those people, 11 other clients, and 5 other staff members.

They found that staff were very welcoming and had a good relationship with attendees, who were overall very positive about the Princes Centre. Attendees enjoyed a range of activities including sports, arts and crafts, singing, and more.

Recommendations

  • Look into introducing new activities mentioned to gauge demand
  • See whether clients want a tuck shop to buy refreshments or whether they are looking to run a small enterprise
  • Put up a noticeboard next to the weekly planner for that day’s activities possible using pictures/photos to show who was doing what each day
