Healthwatch Derbyshire conducted an Enter and View visit to Whittington Care Home on 12 March 2015. The team were able to speak to a number of residents and relatives about the standard of care they received and they also spoke to members of staff. At the time of the visit, there were 37 residents. The team also noted their observations made throughout the visit.

The residents indicated that they were happy overall with their standard of care. Residents expressed that they had good relationships with the staff. One member of staff noted that there had been significant improvements made in the home within the last few months.

The report made several recommendations, including one about the review of moving and handling training to ensure safe practice was being used when using wheelchairs. These were taken into account by the service provider, evidenced by their response in the report.
