Summary of report content

Healthwatch Derbyshire undertook this enter and view on 21 November 2023 to Whitestone Care Home run by Derbyshire County Council. The home provides accommodation and personal care for up to 40 adults who have a physical disability, sensory impairment, dementia or people with a mental health condition. Healthwatch Derbyshire was invited by Derbyshire County Council to visit.

At the time of the visit there were 15 residents and a team of staff. The report notes that the environment was clean and tidy, staff have pride in their work and a shared vision and culture, and the home has a responsive and supportive relationship with the Goyt Valley Medical Practice.

The home would benefit from an increase in general personalised activities and volunteer involvement. The report also notes that the home could have additional dementia-friendly signage and information cues. The report recommends creating a regular newsletter to hare key information and activities with relatives and visitors.
