This Enter and View report examines care provided at West Middlesex University Hospital – Marble Hill 2 Ward, a general medical ward supporting patients with a range of health conditions. Healthwatch Hounslow visited the ward to review the care environment, speak with staff and patients, and understand how the service was meeting patients’ needs.
The review found a clean, accessible and well-maintained ward where patients reported positive experiences of care and confidence in staff. Staff described strong induction, safeguarding and supervision arrangements, alongside efforts to involve families in care planning and discharge processes. Positive feedback also highlighted respect for privacy and dignity, good communication and satisfactory food provision. The report identified concerns about shortages of qualified nursing staff and a potential security risk relating to unrestricted access to the ward.
Healthwatch Hounslow concluded that patients were receiving good-quality care in a supportive environment. The report recognised the ward’s positive culture and commitment to patient-centred care while highlighting the importance of addressing workforce challenges and reviewing security arrangements to maintain patient safety.
