Enter and view: Webb Road Care Home

Healthwatch Greenwich carried out an Enter and View visit to Webb Road Care Home, a six-bed residential home supporting adults with severe learning disabilities. Overall, the home made a very positive impression, with residents appearing comfortable, relaxed and well supported. The service had previously improved following earlier CQC concerns and was rated Good across all areas at its most recent inspection. 

The home was described as homely, spacious, clean and personalised. Residents had lived there for many years and were encouraged to personalise their bedrooms with furniture, photographs and personal belongings. Staff were observed interacting warmly and patiently with residents, supporting independence wherever possible and demonstrating a strong understanding of individuals' preferences and communication needs. 

Residents had access to a range of activities including bingo, karaoke, hydrotherapy, aromatherapy, music sessions and trips out using the home's vehicle. Relatives were positive about the quality of care and felt the service continued to improve. However, Healthwatch noted that a large section of the otherwise attractive garden was not wheelchair accessible, limiting use by some residents. Staff also recognised the benefits of securing a larger vehicle or minibus to support more group outings. 

Healthwatch concluded that Webb Road provides a caring, supportive and person-centred environment for people with severe learning disabilities. Recommendations focused on improving garden accessibility, increasing opportunities for group trips by obtaining a larger vehicle, and strengthening engagement with relatives through more frequent meetings and wider sharing of feedback and meeting outcomes.
