Healthwatch Bucks undertook an Enter and View-style visit to Waterside House, a supported living facility, on 20 November 2019, as part of a series of visits to assess whether care homes are providing dignity in care to their residents. Seeability Buckinghamshire Support Service provides support for up to 14 people in a supported housing scheme (Waterside House). These individuals may live with a range of disabilities which may or may not include sight loss.
Healthwatch talked to 7 people who are supported, 1 visitor and 3 members of staff. They observed a further 2 people who are supported and 2 staff.
The visit assessed the home against 5 criteria: how people are treated, personal choice, just being like home, privacy and quality of life. In all 5 categories Healthwatch Bucks scored Waterside House 5 stars. They found that people were comfortable and happy living at Waterside House. Residents were offered a range of meaningful activities and levels of support. Waterside House enabled people to access all aspects of their home, local community and the wider world via the internet.
There was one recommendation about the House feeing back any issues with the Mandeville Practice directly to the practice and, also, separately on the Healthwatch Bucks website.
The report includes a response from the provider.
