Summary of report content

This Enter and View report examines the quality of care provided at Vicarage Farm Nursing Home, a nursing and residential care home supporting older people, including people living with dementia and complex care needs. Healthwatch Hounslow visited the service to observe care delivery, review facilities and speak with managers and staff about residents’ experiences and the operation of the home.

The review found many examples of good practice, including a clean and well-maintained environment, strong activity provision, personalised care, effective communication with families and a stable workforce supported by ongoing training and supervision. Staff described positive relationships with residents and management, while systems were in place to monitor quality, manage risks and coordinate care with healthcare professionals. Some challenges were identified around hospital discharge information, workforce funding pressures and the need for wider joint working across health and care services.

Healthwatch Hounslow concluded that residents received a high standard of care in a supportive and person-centred environment. The report highlighted the service as an example of good practice and suggested that future visits could benefit from greater involvement of relatives and carers to provide additional feedback about residents’ experiences.
