Healthwatch Kingston upon Thames gather information on people’s experiences of health and social care services and there are times when it is appropriate for Healthwatch Hackney to see and hear for themselves how services are being delivered: these visits are called ‘Enter and View’, they are not inspections.

Healthwatch Kingston upon Thames visited Tolworth Hospital, Jasmines Ward, on 03/11/2015.

During the Enter and View visit the ward was at full capacity with 17 patients. Healthwatch Kingston upon Thames members were informed that the standard staffing arrangement on the ward is 2 qualified Nurses and 3 unqualified on daytime shifts. On the ward there is a dedicated Psychogeriatrician, Ward Manager and Occupational Therapist. Visiting times are 10am until 8.30pm. The summary of findings highlighted areas in relation to patient feedback, staff feedback and observation.

The main recommendations informed themes around staff, disabled access, patient information, rights and advocacy.
