Summary of report content

Healthwatch Cornwall carried out an Enter and View visit to Three Spires Medical Practice in Truro on 14 July 2026. Overall, feedback from patients was very positive, with all 20 patients and carers interviewed speaking favourably about their care. Patients described staff as kind, professional and approachable, and many praised the quality of clinical care and the support they received from both healthcare and reception staff.

Patients reported mixed preferences regarding access to appointments. Many valued the online triage system and found it quick and convenient, while others preferred telephone contact and appreciated being able to receive support from staff if they were unable to use digital systems. The main concern raised by patients was parking, with several reporting difficulty finding a space and some arriving much earlier than their appointments to avoid delays.

Healthwatch observed a clean, well-organised environment with good signage, accessible facilities and visible patient information. However, some patients experienced difficulties using the electronic check-in screen, and others reported that information displayed on waiting room screens disappeared too quickly to read comfortably. A small number of patients also reported delays to appointments.

Healthwatch concluded that Three Spires provides a high-quality service with caring staff and positive patient experiences. Recommendations focused on improving support for patients using the electronic check-in system, making waiting room displays easier to read and providing clearer information about parking options. The practice accepted the recommendations and outlined actions to improve patient information, extend display times on screens and review the usability of the check-in system.
