Enter and view: Thornbury Care Centre

Healthwatch Sunderland undertook an enter and view visit to Thornbury Care Centre on 3 October 2019. They spoke to 16 people in total. They found that residents, staff, family and friends and managers felt:

• The home had a strong visible management
• Staff had both the skills and the time to do their jobs
• The staff had a good knowledge of each resident and their changing needs
• The home had a varied programme of activities
• There was a good choice and flexibility around food and mealtimes, and the food was of a good quality
• Residents had regular access to health professionals
• The home accommodated residents’ personal, cultural and lifestyle needs
• The home provided an open environment where feedback is actively sought and used
• The home provided a physical environment which is suitable for the needs of the residents
