Healthwatch North Northamptonshire visited Thackley Green Specialist Care Centre, a rehabilitation and intermediate care service supporting people recovering from illness, injury or hospital admission. Feedback from residents and staff was overwhelmingly positive, highlighting a caring, person-centred service with a strong focus on rehabilitation, independence and preparing people to return home. 

Residents praised staff for their kindness, professionalism and encouragement, reporting improvements in confidence, mobility and daily living skills during their stay. Staff described a positive multidisciplinary culture focused on helping people achieve rehabilitation goals and maximise independence.

Conclusion

Healthwatch concluded that Thackley Green provides a highly valued rehabilitation service with a strong focus on recovery, dignity and independence. The main recommendations were directed at wider system partners, including reviewing hospital discharge pathways to ensure people are transferred to rehabilitation services at the right time, strengthening community support after discharge, and exploring the impact of discharge and funding arrangements on residents' rehabilitation outcomes.
