This is an enter and view report conducted by Healthwatch Cheshire West 26 October, 2016. During the visit Healthwatch representatives spoke to staff. The visit was announced.
Overall the home was found to be operating to a good standard. Residents seemed to be happy with the care they were receiving. However in line with a recent CQC inspection there was need for improvement to the building and exterior areas.
Recommendations were made as part of this report. No response from the home manager has been attached.
Summary of recommendations:
- Owners to ensure funding is available for the identified repairs, maintenance and other health and safety and improvement items identified in the recent audit and CQC report.
- This work should be carried out in a timely way.
- Owners to note and act on the request of residents’ relatives to meet with them and to be a presence in the home.
- Urgently enhance the home’s activities programme by appointing a co-ordinator and seeking additional support from others in the local community including the shared use of a minibus for outings.
- The local authority to catch up on its backlog of DoLs authorisations.
