Summary of report content

Healthwatch Enfield and Healthwatch Barnet gather information on people’s experiences of health and social care services and there are times when it is appropriate for Healthwatch Enfield and Healthwatch Barnet to see and hear for themselves how services are being delivered: these visits are called ‘Enter and View’, they are not inspections.

Healthwatch Enfield and Healthwatch Barnet revisited Suffolk Ward Chase Farm Hospital on 14/06/2016.

The summary of findings highlighted areas in relation to patient feedback, staff feedback and observation. Healthwatch Enfield and Healthwatch Barnet found that significant improvements have been made to Suffolk Ward; it now appears to be a warm, calm and safe environment which is really valued by patients. Healthwatch Enfield and Healthwatch Barnet met the deputy manager and the interim manager who both impressed us with their detailed knowledge of issues raised previously and action taken to address them. Both managers appear to relish working in the ward and value the satisfaction gained from seeing patients becoming more independent as a result of the support provided during their stay.

There were 15 recommendations from the previous visit, which has been updated to highlight the action which has been taken by Suffolk Ward.
