St Paul Medical Centre is located in the Central West neighbourhood of Blackpool.
The visit was arranged as part of Healthwatch Blackpool’s enter and view schedule and was conducted on 16th August and 18th August 2017 were 42 patients were asked for their views.
Observation by the enter and view representatives reported that:
The environment appeared accessible and had some dementia friendly adaptions.
The practice got a red rating for its overall access rating as there looked to be a mixed reaction over the easiness of getting appointments with half of the patients stating that they have difficulty getting urgent appointments with the majority of patients finding it difficult getting routine appointments. The patients also stated that the experience of booking appointments ‘could be improved’ with some saying it was poor.
The practice received an amber rating for the overall quality rating as the majority of patients were happy with both the medical and non-medical staff along with feeling either ‘satisfied’ or ‘very satisfied’ with the care provided to them at the medical centre.
It was also reported that most patients had not heard of the surgeries Patient Participation Group.
The enter and view team raised quite a lot of issues with the medical centre based on their findings with the practice manager stating what action has been taken to address these.
