Healthwatch Telford & Wrekin conducted an Enter and View on St George’s Park Nursing Home, a privately owned nursing home with 39 residents on the 27th of July and the 3rd of August 2017.
This visit(s) was arranged as part of Healthwatch Telford and Wrekin programme of work on Dignity and Respect in health and care settings. The visit is also in response to evaluations of feedback received from community engagements, and service provider / local council / CQC liaisons, and requests. This report comprises of one announced visit and one unannounced
Observation by the Enter and View representatives reported that:
They observed many occasions when care was given that supported the dignity, respect and well-being of residents. The carers gave time to
residents, encouraging and taking part in the conversations, and joining in activities and tasks, though on a few occasions insufficient time was given for a resident to respond to a question. Staff said they enjoyed their job, and they felt supported by the management. Residents and relatives said they thought the home was ‘better now, and the staff are lovely and kind’.
Six recommendations were made in the report and it contains a response from the provider that addresses these.
