Enter and view: St Annes

Healthwatch Luton carried out an Enter and View visit to St Anne’s Care Home on 19 May 2026. The home provides nursing and personal care for older adults, including people living with dementia. Overall, Healthwatch found a clean, welcoming and well-maintained environment with a calm and friendly atmosphere. Residents, relatives and staff all spoke positively about the home, and residents reported feeling safe, respected and well cared for. 

Residents praised staff for being kind, approachable and attentive to their needs. Relatives also spoke positively about communication, saying they were kept informed about their family members’ wellbeing and care. Staff described a supportive team culture, ongoing training opportunities and positive working relationships. Residents had access to a range of healthcare services, including GPs, dentists, opticians and audiology support. 

Feedback about food, activities and daily life was generally very positive. Residents reported good meal choices, flexibility about where they ate and regular access to drinks and snacks. Activities included television, music, games and social opportunities, while residents were also supported to maintain contact with family and friends through visits and phone calls. The home’s gardens and outdoor seating areas provided additional opportunities for social interaction and relaxation. 

Healthwatch concluded that St Anne’s provides a caring, person-centred service that promotes residents’ wellbeing, dignity and independence. The only recommendation was to make planned activities and engagement opportunities more visible to residents and visitors. The provider accepted this recommendation and confirmed that activity information had already been displayed more prominently throughout the home.
