In June 2017, Healthwatch North Somerset carried out an announced enter and view visit to Silver Trees Care Home. The visit was carried out as part of a planned work program reviewing Social Care/NHS funded accommodation/services in North Somerset to ascertain the quality of life and experience and opinions of residents.
The enter and view team spoke to residents, visitors and staff as well as observing day to day delivery of the service and accommodation.
The report made a number of recommendations which included those below:
• That information on notice boards provided in a clearly visible sized text and available at eye level.
• That the provision of window blinds and fans in some lounges and rooms to reduce the sunlight and heat.
• That records of personal care, including bathing and change of clothes, made available for relatives.
• Assistance with ensuring hearing aids were in situ for the profoundly deaf.
• Support with labelling clothing for relatives and carers who are unable to sew.
• Ensure clocks show the correct time.
At the time of the report being published there was no response from the service provider.
