Summary of report content

Healthwatch Cheshire West conducted an Enter and View visit to Sandiway Lodge on the 19th of February 2015. The team spoke to residents and staff, and used survey methods during their visit. The team also made general observations.

The report indicated that the general standard of the premises was good overall, and residents reported being satisfied with the care they received. The staff were observed to interact positively with the residents. The team noted that there were a number of comments about the increase of residents with dementia at the home. A staff member noted that this was challenging, and they indicated that more support would be helpful to ensure residents with dementia receive the support and care they need. The team also observed that there was not a complaints policy visible, and subsequently recommended that the complaints policy be available and on display.

The report made several recommendations regarding maintenance, food, environment, and health and wellbeing.

The report did not include a response from the provider.
