Healthwatch Telford & Wrekin conducted a partially announced Enter and View visit in January 2020 to the Rubens Care Home. Information was collected from 7 residents, 2 visitors and 1 member of staff. The home offers support for people living with dementia.
The report found that residents reported that they were well looked after, and that their wishes were respected. Activities are organised within the home and there is a choice available for meals. Support was given to those who needed assistance at mealtimes. There was a low staff turnover and staff members were given opportunities for training. Staff were observed to be friendly and helpful. Additional healthcare support was available and health professionals regularly visited the home.
Two recommendations were made including that residents and relatives meetings need to better advertised; and attempts should be made to brighten up areas of the home.
