Summary of report content

Healthwatch Waltham Forest conducted an Enter and View to the Rowan Ward in Whipps Cross University Hospital in February 2017. The ward is a female only surgical ward with 29 surgical beds.

The report found that the ward was accessible for people with limited mobility. The ward was also clean, tidy and bright. The patients reported that they were satisfied with the hospital care they received. Staff were respectful and positive towards patients. Patients reported that more car parking should be made available for patients and their visitors.

Healthwatch Waltham Forest made a number of recommendations including that effective language translations services should be used; reviewing patients complaints; limiting the use of the inter-connecting door; and staff recruitment.

The NHS Trust has responded well to these recommendations and have put a plan in place to address them.
