Summary of report content

In April 2018, Healthwatch Bucks carried out an enter and view visit to Rock House, a care home owned by Gold Hill Housing Association Ltd. Rock House provides care for up to 36 residents, most of whom live with dementia, and also offers respite care.

Representatives spoke to six members of staff, two visitors and four residents. They also made observations. The conversations and observations were focused on: how people are treated, personal choice, homeliness, privacy and quality of life.

The report makes 11 recommendations, which include adding photos to the menu to aid residents in choosing meals independently, adding photos of residents to their room doors, and involving residents with tasks such as laying the table.

The report contains a positive response from the provider, addressing the recommendations and pledging to action many of the suggestions.
