In April 2017, Healthwatch Cheshire West carried out an Enter and View visit to Rivacre House which is a purpose-built care home for people who have needs with their mental health, the provider for the facility is Making Space.
The report stated that the staff were welcoming and friendly with a feeling of teamwork which created a positive atmosphere. The home was clean and tidy with a bright and spacious hall, with good signage. The report goes on to reference the wider environment, activities and daily routines and engagement with residents.
The recommendation to the home within the report was that the visiting team felt that the external frontage of the premises would benefit from general maintenance, however felt this did not detract from well organised interior of the home.
The report was observational and from the perspective of the home manager, no residents or their families were spoken to during the visit, although a family voice was referenced from a quality assurance document.
The report includes a response from the provider which states:
“I find it really useful as a manager of a service to receive reports and comments from independent organisations / as they come into the service with fresh eyes, and often see things or pick up on things that on a day to day basis we could possibly overlook, and any feedback will always contribute to improving the service provided to residents.”
