Healthwatch Greenwich carried out an enter and view visit to Cullum Welch Court Care Home. They observed the care and interactions between staff and twenty residents in both the communal areas and residents’ rooms. They spoke to three residents, three relatives, and five staff members altogether.
Healthwatch Greenwich make the following recommendations:
- Establish more regular meetings between residents and relatives
- Review activities and evaluate residents and relative’s satisfaction with the current model
- Sensory room should be used to support the wellbeing of residents living with dementia
- Improve the security of the home by having a member of staff receive guests on entry
- Display complaints information
- Offer more frequent opportunities for washing to residents
