Summary of report content

Healthwatch Hartlepool undertook an announced enter and view visit to the Physiotherapy Department of the University Hospital of Hartlepool on 4 and 5 July 2016. They spoke to 31 people. Key findings included:

A significant number of service users were not aware of the length of the walk to get to the physiotherapy department from the car park.

People said the unit was difficult to find. People with conditions like COPD weren't given any assistance from the car park to the unit.

Most people were seen within 2 weeks of referral. Most inpatients were given appointments days after they were discharged from hospital. Delays occurred when the service user was referred via a GP.
