This is an Enter and View report by Healthwatch Sandwell.
Representatives visited the phlebotomy clinic at Neptune park and spoke to 7 patients about their experience.
Patients were generally happy with the service as they found it on the day. There were also some staff reflections in addition which discussed the day to day challenges around communication and IT support systems.
There are recommendations in this report.
- Providing a loop system for hearing impaired patients and advertise this facility.
- Providing letters in larger print for patients who have a visual impairment letter.
- Recording on patients records their individual communication needs.
- Extending opening times.
- Liaising with the Primary Care Team (GP’s and Pharmacies) to address the challenges.
- that staff are facing with regards to appropriate documentation.
There are no follow up actions in this report.
However the provider has responded to each of the recommendations.
