Healthwatch West Sussex conducted a planned visit to The Park surgery in Littlehampton, on 28th July 2015, upon an invitation from the surgery to see what they were doing to support their patients and local population. The practice had approximately 7,500 registered patients. The report talks about the observations of the team whilst visiting the surgery. They found the practice to have a calm environment with a dedicate group of staff who put the patients first. The partners and doctors created a stable team who deliver a personalised service to the patients and have an open door policy for prompt and efficient care.
The team found the practice to be uncluttered with a good record storage facility. Its aim is to offer patients urgent care treatments as an alternative to travelling to an A&E. It is also is the registered GP for the residents at the care home opposite the streets which creates both efficiency and a good safeguard for the care home, as the GP can observe changes quickly through his regular visits.
Healthwatch did not make any recommendation in the end except to encourage patients to share their experiences either directly with the staff or through HW, so together conversations can be had in support of primary care services for local people.
