Enter and view: Paddock Stile Manor Care Home

Healthwatch Sunderland conducted an Enter and View visit to Paddock Stile Manor Care Home in May 2019. The home caters for up to 40 people aged over 65 years who require dementia residential care. Questionnaires were completed by 4 residents, 7 staff members and 3 relatives alongside observations.

Residents and relatives were happy with the management of the home and staff felt they were well supported and could come to the manager with any issues they may have. Residents reported that staff are supportive and friendly, however, when the staff were asked if they feel they have enough time to care for the residents at the home, the staff respondents gave mixed responses. Staff had good knowledge of each resident and changing needs. There was a varied programme of activities on offer and the activities coordinator encouraged participation with residents and visitors alike. Residents reported that they enjoy the food on offer and there is choice of meals. A number of health professionals visit the home on a regular basis. Residents' personal, cultural and lifestyle needs are accommodated for in the home and the activities coordinator tailors the activity schedule to meet the resident's religious and cultural needs. Residents are aware of how to provide feedback to the manager and family members are involved in planning activities. All residents were satisfied with the physical environment of the home which is suitable for their needs.
