Summary of report content

Healthwatch Shropshire undertook an announced enter and view visit to Mytton Oak Medical Practice on 13 January 2020. They wanted to assess the availability of appointments. They spoke to three staff and ten patients.

The surgery list is increasing due to developing housing estates. Lack of space within the building is an issue. There is a good range of services offered at the surgery. Notice boards and information displays are clear.

A recorded message from a Practice GP at the beginning of each telephone call helps to protect reception staff from abuse. Extended hours appointments are advertised and offered.

Patients find it easy to get an appointment but often face a long wait for the phone to be answered. Patients were happy with the Practice, the staff and the service that they receive.

The report includes two recommendations about extended access appointments and the telephone system.
