Enter and view: Moorland Gardens

Healthwatch Luton carried out an Enter and View visit to Moorland Gardens Care Home on 19 May 2026. The home provides residential, dementia and respite care for up to 80 residents. Overall, Healthwatch found a clean, welcoming and well-maintained environment with a calm atmosphere. Residents spoke positively about the care they received and described staff as kind, approachable and supportive.

Residents reported feeling safe and well looked after, with regular access to healthcare services including GPs, dentists, opticians and mental health professionals. Staff were observed interacting respectfully with residents and promoting independence wherever possible. Staff also described a positive working environment supported by regular training, supervision and teamwork. 

Feedback about activities and meals was generally positive. Residents enjoyed a range of activities including games, music, painting and social events, and appreciated being able to choose how they spent their time. Dining arrangements were flexible, with residents able to eat in the dining room or lounge, and food was described as good with a choice of menu options. The home also provided outdoor spaces, hydration stations and refreshments throughout the day.

Healthwatch identified no major concerns. Recommendations focused on continuing to record and review residents’ cultural, religious and dietary preferences and supporting further personalisation of bedrooms. Overall, the report concluded that Moorland Gardens provides a caring, person-centred service that promotes residents’ wellbeing, dignity and independence.
