In June 2018, Healthwatch Bucks carried out an enter and view visit to Milton House, care home provided by the National Society for Epilepsy. The home accommodates 6 men.
Representatives engaged with 3 residents, 2 members of staff and observed a further 3 staff and 2 residents. The conversations and observations were focused on: how people are treated, personal choice, homeliness, privacy and quality of life.
The report summarises that the home is bright, clean and spacious with patient and respectful staff, and gives the Home an overall rating of 4 out of 5 stars. Healthwatch Bucks suggest that more could be done to support meaningful interaction between staff and residents.
The report makes 3 recommendations: to encourage more interaction between staff and residents, monitor use of the television and provide an activities programme which reflects the interests of residents.
The report contains a response from the provider, pledging to implement the recommendations made.
