Summary of report content

Healthwatch Milton Keynes carried out an Enter and View visit at Milton Court Care Home with the intention of exploring the overall experience of residents living at the care home. In addition, themes relating more specifically to the impact of COVID-19 on the lives and care of residents were addressed.

An Authorised Representative (AR) actively engaged with care home residents through either a semi-structured conversation approach or a group discussion. The AR also observed routine activity and the provision of lunch.

Recommendations:

  • Review current staffing levels to ensure they meet the needs of the residents
  • Reinstate monthly residents’ meetings to facilitate input into care plans, activities, and meal planning
  • Ensure new manager is properly introduced and this relationship isn’t overlooked
  • Recommendation to all Care Homes and the Dementia Friendly Milton Keynes initiative is to develop a Biography Service
