Enter and View: Millfield Care Home

Healthwatch Rochdale visited Millfield Care Home on 23rd July 2019 as part of Enter and View visits to care homes in the Rochdale borough. The home consists of four different units of which they observed three. They found strong and visible management providing support to staff and the residents; staff had adequate time and skills to their job and had good knowledge of each individual resident and how their needs may be changing; residents are offered a varied programme of activities although some residents did not agree; majority of the food offered was home cooked and there was a two week rolling programme for the menu; residents could regularly see health professionals; the home ensured residents’ personal, cultural and lifestyle needs were accommodated; the environment was open where feedback was actively sought and used; the place was maintained to provide for the physical needs of the residents. The report made four recommendations and received responses for three from the providers.
