In February 2014, Healthwatch Barnet carried out an Enter and View visit to Meridan House and Foxland House, both of which are owned by Home Group and leased to Richmond Fellowship (RF) a registered charity who are a specialist provider of mental health services.
The visit was part of a planned strategy in response to concerns received from the public about the treatment of Mental Health patients in various locations in the borough.
Six representatives conducted the research and made observations on: the environment, premises, policies and procedures, staff, resident feedback capture, privacy and dignity, and activities.
The report finds the provider a supportive environment that is helping service users progress through to independent living through a well-structured and communicated pathway. Service users are able to assess and measure their own progress. They note concerns that a re-organisation might adversely the RF ethos and implementation.
The report makes 5 recommendations, and includes a detailed response from the provider.
