Summary of report content

Healthwatch Manchester undertook an unannounced enter and view visit to Manchester Royal Infirmary on 28 November 2022. They wanted to review wheelchair access to the hospital and the grounds.

Locating a wheelchair was difficult for abled bodied and non-sensory impaired people. This would be very difficult for somebody with a disability.

Wheelchair access was very good, there were no obstacles and everywhere on the ground floor of the infirmary was navigable in a wheelchair. There were regularly spaced out lifts to get to other floors.

There were two recommendations about compliance with the Public Sector Equality Duty and information about wheelchair use.  The report contains a response from the provider.
