Summary of report content

Healthwatch Halton undertook an announced enter and view visit to Madeline McKenna Court on 17 January 2024.

During their visit, residents at the Madeline McKenna seemed comfortable, happy and well looked after. Healthwatch observed good engagement between the manager, staff and residents. From conversations with residents, and feedback from family members, it is clear the home generally provides a good level of care.

There were however a number of comments received, from residents, family members, and staff, regarding a lack of activities provided by the home, and some regarding a lack of communication, which Healthwatch felt need addressing.

The report contains six recommendations about activities, being dementia friendly, communication and information, involvement, staffing and choice.

The report also contains a response from the provider.
