Summary of report content

Healthwatch Barking and Dagenham conducted an Enter and View visit to Look Ahead, a supported living service for people with Learning Disabilities, on 29 March 2014.

Look Ahead (Ford Road) accommodates seven customers in single occupancy bedrooms and has a communal kitchen and dining room. The units are not en-suite but have basins in rooms with shared bathroom. Residents have personal budgets that they use to pay for toiletries, activities, food, and clothing with residents being taken weekly to do their shopping.

The Enter and View Authorised Representatives heard from residents that there was a good choice of food but would prefer larger portions. The residents also told the visiting team of the activities they took part in, including going to Butlins to attend an ABBA weekend. All of the residents spoke highly of the staff and the support they got from them.

Overall from the visit and from what residents said, the Authorised Representatives reported that they felt Look Ahead supported living is a comfortable place where individuals are receiving a good standard of support that they need to live independent lives. As a result, the report makes no recommendations and there is no provider response contained within the report.
