Healthwatch Derby carried out a PLACE Assessment (Patient Led Assessment of the Care Environment) at London Road Community Hospital. Healthwatch Derby contacted the Trust Contracts Monitoring Officer to arrange for the Enter and View Authorised Representatives to take part.
London Road Community Hospital is a community based hospital located in the city centre. It provides rehabilitation and intermediate care, independent facilities and some outpatient services including dermatology. During the visit, Authorised Representatives visited various stairwells and fire exits, the Female G.U.M clinic, Orthotics, Wards 3, 4, 5 and 6 and The Grove and were invited to sample a selection of the three course meals from the hospital lunch menu.
The report noted that there were instances of good practice around communication with patients, and the care observed when staff were attending to patients.
The report makes several recommendations and, in line with a PLACE assessment, they relate mainly to environmental concerns such as signage or health and safety concerns.
There was no provider response included with this report.
