This is an enter and view report conducted by Healthwatch Bucks 7 December, 2017. During the visit Healthwatch representatives spoke to 11 people, which included a mix of staff, residents and relatives. The visit was unannounced, though a two week window was given for the visit.
Overall the home was found to be operating to a good standard. Residents seemed to be happy with the care they were receiving.
Recommendations were made as part of this report. A response from the home manager has been attached.
Summary of recommendations:
- Improve the signage in some of the corridors and personalizing residents’ doors.
- Help residents get to know each other better by appropriate introductionsand encouragement by staff.
- Introduce both written and pictorial menus to help residents with of menu choice;
- Have more water/cold drinks easily available to residents in lounges.
- Could consider how I-pad technology could help residents in future, such as creating pictorial options for food.
