Enter and View: Lincolnshire House

Healthwatch North Lincolnshire conducted an Enter and View visit to Lincolnshire House on 3rd October 2024 to assess oral health promotion and access to dental services for residents. Healthwatch engaged with three residents, three staff members, and management to gather feedback on their experiences.

Key findings:

• Lincolnshire House follows an oral health policy aligned with NICE guidelines, ensuring residents receive appropriate support.
• Residents have individualised oral care routines, including regular assessments and access to dental services.
• Staff are proactive in supporting residents with their oral hygiene routines and encourage independence where possible.
• Some staff have not received formal oral health training, but they are confident in supporting residents' oral health needs.
• Residents generally have good access to dental services, though some residents may refuse dental appointments or treatment.

Recommendations:

• Ensure residents' oral health is assessed on admission and regularly thereafter.
• Provide formal oral health training for staff to improve support for residents.

Service provider response: The provider acknowledges the report's findings and intends to implement oral health training for staff and ensure oral health assessments are conducted upon admission.
