Enter and view: The Limes

Healthwatch Central Bedfordshire conducted an announced enter and view visit to The Limes on 26 March 2015. The visit is part of the team’s wider enter and view programme to identify how dignity is being respected in a care home environment. On the day of the visit, the team engaged with 2 staff members, 3 residents and 2 relatives using survey and observation methods.

The team found that the home was operating to a good standard of care with regard to cleanliness, dignity and respect. Residents appeared content, well cared for and there was evidence of their choices being respected. They were given choice of menu at mealtimes and enjoyed the quality of the food. The residents are encouraged to participate in the range of activities on offer. Relatives are also invited to join in with the activities. Family members were appreciative of the care given to the residents and were very positive about staff. Staff engaged positively with residents and were well trained for their caring roles.

The report included the recommendations that the large fish tank on display is either thoroughly cleaned or removed as a matter of urgency, and that the redecoration of the home is continued. It was also suggested that the report was shared with residents, relatives and staff at the home.

The service provider responded to the report suggesting that they were happy with the report and visit and the recommendations will be acted on.
