Summary of report content

Healthwatch Telford and Wrekin conducted an announced Enter and View on Lightmoor View Care Home on 24 February 2015. The visit was arranged as part of Healthwatch Telford and Wrekin’s Enter and View schedule.

Observations by the Healthwatch representatives reported that: residents were happy; they found the food to be excellent; and staff were caring and patient; relatives reported that they were happy with the standards of care; staff also found the home to be a good place to work at. About the home’s facilities, representatives found that car parking space was limited; the entrance foyer to be bright and welcoming, and noticed that staff interacting with residents in a caring way.

Residents commented that: they were happy to be able to have their preferences of food catered for, have personal possessions in their room, have a variety of activities to do, and take a nap when they wished.

The report recommended the following:

- Laundry baskets should be sorted in a corner of the lounge away from the themed alcove area which may be used by a resident.

- Replace the carpet where the small soiled areas are not responsive to special cleaning

The provider in response to the report, outlined that they have a plan in place to have laundry events to minimise disruption to the ongoing use of the room, and a plan of an ongoing refurbishment programme to maintain high standards of cleaning including carpet cleaning.
