Summary of report content

Healthwatch Isle of Wight conducted an unannounced Enter and View visit to Kinloch Tay Residential Home in April 2024. The focus areas of the visit was the quality of care, the provision of activities, the experience of visiting and the food and drink.  

This visit was arranged as part of an ongoing workplan, looking at the experiences of people living in residential care or nursing care homes on the Island. Six local care and nursing homes were visited as part of this work.

The report shares residents feedback of a  good standard of care with personalised care plans and a wide range of activities available, with residents particularly enjoying the presence of a dog and a cat in the home. Residents were very positive about the quality and choice of food that was available to them.

The team shared 4 recommendations, including redecorating communal area, replacing curtains in a residents room, providing pictures of meals and greater choice and autonomy around snacks.
