Summary of report content

Healthwatch Staffordshire conducted an Enter and View visit to Kinglsey Rest Home, a 14 bed residential care home, on 9 April 2018. The visit was made to explore the implementation of the eight Quality Indicators for care homes developed by Independent Age.

The report notes that the Manager and Deputy Manager, who are a mother and daughter team, both live in accommodation within the grounds of the property, so there is a very personal “hands on” approach to the running of the home.

The Authorised Representatives noted that the residents were all comfortable and happy with the care and support that they received from all the staff. Staff were motivated and interacted well with the residents, who they knew well and that the Home is responsive to the individual needs and preferences of the residents.

The report notes that the Home appears to have well responded following a CQC inspection by increasing staff numbers and providing care is a less regimented way with individuals needs and preferences being respected. The visiting team felt that there was a good atmosphere in the home.

Beyond the suggestion that Healthwatch Staffordshire would like to visit again after refurbishment to the Home and gardens to observe the improvement this may have made to the wellbeing of the residents, there were no recommendations made as the report finds that the Home meets all eight Quality Indicators.

No feedback was received from the provider.
