Summary of report content

Healthwatch Cornwall carried out an Enter and View visit to Camborne and Redruth Community Diagnostic Centre on 6 July 2026. Overall, feedback was highly positive, with patients praising the speed of referrals, quality of care and accessibility of the service. Many reported receiving appointments much sooner than expected, helping speed up diagnosis and treatment. Patients also appreciated the modern, purpose-built environment and convenient location.

Patients consistently described staff as kind, professional and supportive. Several highlighted the way staff took time to explain procedures and provide reassurance, particularly for those who felt anxious about scans or tests. Healthwatch observed respectful interactions throughout the visit, with staff supporting patients at an appropriate pace and providing help where needed. The centre was found to be clean, well organised and accessible, with good facilities for people with mobility needs.

The main issue identified related to communication and wayfinding. A small number of patients had mistakenly attended the adjoining hospital reception and were not immediately directed to the diagnostic centre. Others reported receiving unclear information about service availability, including the operating hours of the walk-in phlebotomy service. These issues appeared to arise from inconsistent information being provided by other healthcare organisations rather than by the centre itself.

Healthwatch concluded that the centre provides a high-quality service with excellent patient feedback. The sole recommendation was to strengthen communication with local hospitals, GP practices and other partners to ensure patients receive clear and consistent information about the centre’s location, services and opening arrangements. The provider welcomed the findings and confirmed ongoing work with NHS partners to improve awareness and patient signposting.
