Healthwatch Bucks conducted an Enter and View visit in July 2019 to the Hulcott Care Home. The home provides nursing and residential care to up to 49 people, some of whom live with dementia. Feedback and observations from/ of 20 residents and staff were collected during this visit.
The report found that staff were kind and very engaged with residents. It was observed that they had the time to interact with residents as well. The menus showed several options were available to residents with pictorial menus for those who needed this. The home was clean and tidy with personalised bedrooms. Residents reported that they had privacy when at the home. A range of activities were offered, including visits from school children and singers.
The recommendations include that the food could be served in dishes rather than fully plated; continue to encourage residents to go out in the garden; involve those who are interested in activities; increase chair-based exercise; and scope to see if students could provide entertainment or if residents could attend local school productions.
The service provider responded positively to the report.
