Summary of report content

Healthwatch West Sussex conducted an Enter and View at Horsham Hospital on 27/07/2017. This visit was arranged as part of the Enter and View schedule where 31 people gave their experiences of using the following services; Dermatology; Outpatients; X-Ray; Podiatry; Minor Injuries and Phlebotomy.

Everyone spoken to said they did not have a problem with the hospital and included positive comments on several services.

The issue of concern raised by the majority of people spoken to was that there were not enough parking spaces, particularly for Blue Badge Holders, not enough space to manoeuvre and there is not a safe pathway from the car park to the hospital entrance.

The following recommendations were made:

• Horsham District Council consider making the pay-machines for the car park pay-on-exit and review the disabled parking allocation.

• The hospital owners and Horsham District Council to review the car park layout, to ensure patient safety when getting from the parking to the entrance of the hospital.

In response, Horsham Hospital was in the process of redesigning the car park.
