Summary of report content

Hollymere House is a 48-room care home located in the village of Haslington, Cheshire. Healthwatch Cheshire East undertook this Enter and View to understanding how dignity is being respected, observe the care provided, observe staff/resident interactions, and capture ideas for change. The visit took place on 18 November 2022.

The report notes several positive things about the care home. It is described as a warm, welcoming environment where residents appear happy and are valued and respected. Staff were seen to show care and compassion, and there was a genuine warmth between residents and staff. There is also a well thought-out and inclusive activities programme.

The report has three recommendations.

  1. Install a hearing loop, especially since the home specialises in caring for older and hearing-impaired residents.
  2. Continue with the plans for the refurbishment, and ensure this is completed with consultation from staff, residents and family.
  3. Consider changing the entry from the far end of the building to the front.
