Healthwatch Warrington undertook an enter and view visit to Hole Lane Medical Centre on 8 November 2022 following concerns from patients and carers in relation to contacting GPs and accessing care and treatment. They surveyed patients and got 668 responses.
The report looks at:
- The reception/waiting area
- Appointment booking systems
- Services available at the practice
- Prescriptions and reviews
- Privacy, dignity and meeting individual needs
- Administration and general management
The survey found that over three in five felt their surgery was very good, good or OK. Nearly half found getting an appointment a negative experience. E-consult was the only option for booking appointments. Nearly four in five said they couldn’t get an urgent same day appointment. Over half were happy with the opening hours – those that weren’t wanted appointments in the evening, after or before work. Nearly two thirds found getting a repeat prescription a positive experience.
The report includes five recommendations about publicity about Healthwatch and ICAS, access to routine checks without using e-consult; knowledge of reception staff and signage.
The report includes a response from the provider.
