Healthwatch Croydon conducted an announced Enter and View visit to Heatherwood Nursing Home on the 14th of October 2015. The team spoke to residents and staff using survey methods and made general observations about the home during their visit.
The report indicated that residents were happy with the standard of care they received. It was noted that the home took a person-centred approach to care. The team spoke to staff who indicated that they enjoyed working there and received adequate support and training. The team observed that there were a number of activities available for residents.
The report included two recommendations. One was to ensure that the key was removed from the door of the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health cupboard so that residents could not access it. Another recommendation was to display the photographs and names of staff.
The report included a response from the provider indicating that they had made changes to reflect the recommendations made by Healthwatch Croydon.
